Why is Ganesh Puja Done at the beginning of any important task?
In Hindu tradition, Gaṇeśa is called Vighneśvara (Lord of obstacles) / Vighnahartā (Remover of obstacles). The scriptures say that before any auspicious act (śubha-kārya), invoking Gaṇeśa ensures its smooth completion, free from impediments.
Purāṇas have many references towards importance of worship of Gaṇeśa.
1. Rigveda (2.23.1)
This mantra addressed to is often understood as one of the earliest references to Lord Ganesh:
गणानां त्वा गणपतिं हवामहे कविं कवीनामुपमश्रवस्तमम् ।
ज्येष्ठराजं ब्रह्मणां ब्रह्मणस्पत आ नः शृण्वन्नूतिभिः सीद सादनम् ॥
We invoke You, O Lord of the Gaṇas, the most renowned among the wise, the foremost King of prayers, O Brahmaṇaspati, please come with Your protection and sit here.
2. Skanda Purāṇa (Nāgara Khaṇḍa, Ch. 142)
This covers the story of creation of Ganeśa (Herambha) by divine mother Parvati. The role, responsibilities, powers and knowledge of Ganeśa are mentioned in this chapter. It is here it is made clear, that he is both the owner, and remover of obstacles.
3. Śiva Purāṇa (Ch. 13)
Here lord Brahma says that in various kalpas, there are various stories about the birth of Ganeśa. He then shares one of them. At the end of this story, Shiva eventually declares that Ganeśa is to be prayed to before every deity.
Why is Lakshmi Puja Done at home and office?
Lakshmi is a giver of wealth, material success and comforts. At home, praying to Laxmi ensures that the household is a comfortable place and there is abundance for everyone. It also ensures that there is harmony at home.
At work, Lakshmi bestows wealth and material success. As the objective of the workplace is to do well financially, Laxmi becomes an important deity for every workplace.
Laksmi only dwells in clean places. Therefore regular pooja ensures that our homes and offices are clean and well maintained. The annual Diwali festival is often preceded by thorough cleaning and maintenance of homes and offices, as the Lakshmi Ganesh puja is a central ritual of this celebration.
Astrological signification of Lakshmi Ganesh puja
Astrologically, Lakshmi relates to the planet Venus. Venus refers to comforts in life, which are obtained by someone who is wealthy. It is also a feminine planet, and generally represents the spouse as well. Therefore, when it comes to matters of household wealth and comforts, astrologers often suggest a prayer to Lakshmi to help the client.
Ganesh is interpreted astrologically in two ways. Firstly, he is closely associated with the gṛha Ketu. Like Ganesh, Ketu is said to have been decapitated, which is why it is believed that Ketu has no dṛśti (sight) and can grant only moksha. Secondly, Ganesh is seen as the remover of obstacles and blockages in life. While Ketu represents what remains after Rāhu is removed, and Rāhu brings sudden, unforeseen obstacles, Ganesh ensures smooth access to divinity, knowledge, and success in endeavors. In this way, Ganesh balances the forces of obstruction and liberation, guiding devotees toward spiritual and material fulfillment
Weekday for doing Lakshmi Ganesh puja
Fridays (connected with Goddess Lakshmi) and Wednesdays (connected with Lord Ganesh) are considered especially auspicious for related prayers.
Doing both together?
Friday is a good day. What needs to be noted here is that any muhurta for starting a project is also a good time to do a Lakshmi Ganesh pooja for that project.

Lakshmi Ganesh Puja - Sacred Materials Needed
In every Vedic ritual, the offerings made to the deities hold deep spiritual significance. The Padma Purāṇa, Kālikā Purāṇa, and Agni Purāṇa describe the core essentials of worship:
“Gandha-puṣpa-dhūpa-dīpa-naivedyāni pañcaiva…”
(Padma Purāṇa, Uttara Khaṇḍa 71.232)
Meaning: Sandal paste, flowers, incense, lamp, and food offering are the five eternal elements of every pūjā.
Similarly, the Kālikā Purāṇa (61.25–30) affirms:
“Gandha, puṣpa, dhūpa, dīpa, naivedya, and jalopahāra — these six are the eternal offerings to the deities.”
Building on these scriptural foundations, our Puja Kit is curated to include every essential item prescribed in the śāstras. Each element is not just a ritual object, but a symbol of devotion.
